Artist Statement

Surface Manipulation

My piece depicts Davy Jones and the pirate medallion, It has a range of greens and blues. There is also a piece of a necklace that I had cut, then used hot glue under and over it to make it stick to the piece.

I created my piece by transferring my picture of the medallion to my piece. This is when I had started to sketch on Davy Jones. Then I proceed to add layers of watercolor to the background. As I was adding layers I started to use different techniques to add the watercolor on the piece, I started to use sponges to add watercolor.

My inspiration for this piece is that in the movie pirates of the Caribbean Davy Jones is made to be evil and mean. But throughout the movie you can see that he is sweet about certain things, things that are personal to him is what makes him have a good and sweet side.

My goals for this piece was not really achieved while I was working on my piece. But the goal was to make it show that feeling of betrayal and loneliness from the world, and life.

My thoughts on my work would not be great because I don't think that my piece is successful, so very unsuccessful. The coloring on the top of the piece is not that bad in value and range. Drawing and layout of the art piece was not really great, I could have arranged better to show the meaning. I could have chose a better subject matter to convey more emotion, anger, and happiness.

Inktober

My piece depicts poisonous from the Inktober list, there is my interpretation of poison ivy, there is different ranges of green and reds. There is different variety of pen methods that was used in the piece. There is also a skeleton hand that would symbolize poison.
I used different techniques to create the shading in the hair and face. I created my art piece with two different medias. I used Prisma color to add range of value with color in the hair and the tree vines. Both, prismatic pencils and sharpie (pen and ink) were used to create value and texture in my piece.
My inspiration for my piece was that I grew up on watching and reading batman comics. The villain real stud out to me because a lot of them come from a bad background and their good people but their just treated bad.

My goals for this piece was to make it to where if you see the piece you can tell what it is about. I started with the four sketches, made my final sketch on the final project paper. This is when I got really worried because I thought if I add pen and ink it would messes up the entire project. But I did, and I came to love it when I was finished.

I have learned that taking risks in art is not really a bad thing, that you should just go for it and who knows you might like the finished piece. This is one of the things that I have learned while doing the project. During the art processes I've learned how to use Prisma in the right shades and tones of color. I would probably use this media again in the future, But I'm not really sure.

Clay

My piece depicts a bowl shape with bear paws. There are coils that are smooth out with leather like texture. The coils give my piece a bumpy look to it, this makes it look like a baggy bear costume.

I use coils and pinch pot methods to create the bottom half of my cookie jar. When working with the pinch pot method, I was able to make the back and front paws. The wooden tools I used were to smooth out the edges of the clay when attaching the paws. To smooth everything and make textures I used to ruler.

The inspiration for this piece is Halloween. These day has been me favorite ever since I was a kid. I have a lot of happy memories that I mad with friends and family. A lot of people hate Halloween but it has many different memories for me.

The goals for my piece is that I wanted to work quickly but smoothly. I started by doing my four sketches in a three sixty point of view. This goal was achieved because my piece is looking how I wanted it.

While I was doing this project I have learned to work faster with my coils. I had learned to create coils that are not to thick and not to thin. In the future i will be able to use this methods when working with clay.

Art Show Piece's

There are different values of reds in my piece. In this piece there is a women looking over the animals and the dark forest. I have added highlights to the trees an the women's face, also gave her pink lips. I used movement in the hair to make it look like the tree was apart of her hair.

The media I use to create this piece was acrylic. I use different kind of paint brush to get the fine details in the face, grass, the animals. I also use bigger brushes to get the bigger details in the trees, and background. I started with the painting the background red and adding layers to make it darker. Then I used black paint to create the trees and the hair of the women. After that i painted the animals and final I worked on the fine details.

The means of my piece is that the women is like a guardian of the dark forest. She is watching over the animals so they don't get hurt. My piece kind of express a social issue, because the women is watching over the animals so they don't get hurt. The emotion my piece is show, is anger and protection.

My piece is very successful because I was able to show what I seen in my head when I was thinking about what I was going to do. I was able to use the media to my best advantage.

This piece has help me for future project because i have learned to use and add a lot of layers.

Master’s Style

My Inspiration for this piece is about my childhood how there is good and bad parts. An it is about how I can make good out of a bad situation.

The process for this piece is that I started by adding the background first, then add more and more layers at a time. When I was finished with the background I started with some details, and when I was done I put the very interacted detail to finish off my piece.

Portrait

The inspiration for my piece is that i can relate to it on a much deeper level. I might look happy and ok on the outside but nobody would realize that I have depression and anxity, so everybody might not be perfect but we try.

The process of this piece was adding layers on top of layers, I had to work on the contrast. Adding layers help me develop my piece in the best way possible.

Portrait

Describe: This piece depicts a women who is sad and lonesome. There different form of contrast to show the emotion and texture.

Analyze: The artist used value to create contrast in this piece.

Interpret: The message of my piece is that people might look fine and happy on the outside, but the could be something much deeper and sad.

Judge: I think that my piece is unsuccessful because there is a lot of contrast but not enough detail in some areas.

Artist Statement:

The inspiration for my piece is that i can relate to it on a much deeper level. I might look happy and ok on the outside but nobody would realize that I have depression and anxity, so everybody might not be perfect but we try.

Foreshortening

In this piece the is a Chevrolet Camaro. There is contrast to show the detail in part of the wheels and the front hood. Under the car there is a shadow to show the light is reflecting on the car. I would probably named this piece my drem car.

I had started with searching up what kind of car I want to draw and that had somekind of meaing to me. Then when I found one that I liked, I had started to make skecthes that led to me puting the best sketch one my final paper. Using my pencil to create light shade to differnt part of the car. By adding layers I was able to make more contrast in my piece.

For this piece I wanted to draw a car and challange myself, but i also wanted to draw a car that I liked. This foreshortening piece is showing what car I would like to have in the future. My inspiration for this piece was that if I work hard then I could have my dream car someday. The name of the car itself means "friendly, pal, or comrade".

As a growing artist I feel that this piece can help me learn how to use the media more freely and to keep trying to do my best. The goal I had for this piece was not the same as it looks. I am proud that I was able to draw a car and was able to chanllege myself. In a way I feel that I might have not reach my goal but I have learned from it.

The final piece was not as I had imagined it be, I wolud have like to redo it but i wouldnt want to messed it up. I just want to learn from my piece, as I do with all my art work. It would have been better if I had added more layers to add more contrast.

Performance Exam

In this piece there is different shades of red and browns. There is a lot of contrast in the hair and the blood on the face of my art work. The face has a green monster like claws coming out of the mans face. The man has pointy ears, scars, open wounds, red eyes, and brown hair

I started with the sketches first and went on to making my final piece. I then had transferred it to my canvas board. When paint I used black and reds to create the background and clothes. This led me to paint the body and the face of the man, and on to adding little details to make current parts to pop out to the viewer.

My emotional and personal inspiration for the piece is that everybody can have demons in the life. This can be a person or thing that can make your life not so great, but it is your choice whether or not to let is effect you. This is the real meaning behind my piece and the idea for it.

I feel that my piece has help me grow as an artist by using this media. This piece has lot of personal meaning behind it so I feel that it has reached the goal that I had desired for it. In the future I will use the same technics in some of my art work to show my artistic style.

In the future I can use this art piece to show my growth as an artist. I learned how to use different technics with acrylic paint that would not normally use. When I finish my piece it’s exactly what I had imagined in my head before starting and working on it.
